Au Parfum’s Esxence 2019 Wrap-Up

sarah baker perfumes esxence 2019

2019 has been a big year so far for Sarah Baker Perfumes, between launching four new fragrances, adding perfumers Miguel Matos and Andreas Wilhelm to our roster of esteemed noses, attending Pitti Fragranze, and showing our line at the eleventh edition of Esxence in Milan, we have been positively spinning!

When you’re launching a niche brand—and bootstrapping, as they say in the venture capital startup world—it’s hard to keep up and harder still to pause with gratitude for acknowledgements from colleagues. But we were so very honored to be mentioned in Jeanne Doré’s Esxence Au Parfum follow-up.

Dear Sarah, you must pardon my Google-translate effort here from French to English. It’s been a minute since I’ve used my graduate school French. But here is my best translation of Doré’s words for Au Parfum:

"Head to the UK with London's Sarah Baker who presented the latest creations of her brand launched in 2016, as well as a new design and elegant cylindrical bottle. Jungle Jezebel, created by Miguel Matos (Fragrantica's collaborator) in tribute to Divine, John Waters' famous drag queen, is an unlikely marriage of bubblegum and animal notes, as if a civet was chewing on a piece of Malabar in front of you, mind-blowing. From the same creator, I preferred Rules of Attraction, after the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, an iris honeyed cumin accord, always rather animal, but more controlled. A bit of a crazy perfume, far from the French standards, which can as much excite for its creativity as put off by its excessive freedom."

Esxence was a wonderful experience and we hope to see Sarah Baker Perfumes return next year!
